Fueled by Coffee and Community: The 1998–1999 SVC Residence Life Mug

Keeping RDs and switchboard operators energized through those long Bennington winters.

This vintage SVC mug dates back to the 1998–1999 academic year. Resident Directors at Southern Vermont College had a demanding job—and undoubtedly relied on plenty of coffee to fuel their long days and late nights.

The RD office was located on the first floor of Aldis Hall, which also housed Student Life, Security, and Counseling Services.

Aldis Hall was also home to the SVC switchboard, positioned right behind the main lobby desk. Professionally staffed during the day and run by work-study students on evenings and weekends, working the switchboard was widely considered a prized campus assignment.
