Legendary Coach Ryan Marks skillfully guided the 2002-2003 SVC Men's Basketball Team to a record 24-6 season, catapulting the small Bennington college to NCAA glory and nationwide recognition.

The excitement around SVC's mountainside campus was electric that season, as the entire college would pack into the Mountaineers fieldhouse to witness history in the making.

The fabled season didn't come easy, with Coach Marks holding his infamous crack of dawn practices. Marks was known as a demanding coach who went above and beyond for his players, both preparing them for the court and mentoring them in life.

The small size of SVC's fieldhouse allowed Mountaineer fans to get an up close and personal view of the action. SVC's enthusiastic fanbase would roar with approval every time Frenchy completed a seemingly impossible pass, leading to Marcus Fefee making a sensational buzzer beating three pointer.

An SVC basketball home game wasn't complete without Coach Marks keeping the officials on their toes. When animated hand motions weren't adequate, Marks was known to throw his suit jacket in disgust. Never one to hide his passion, Coach Marks gave SVC mascot Monty the Moose a run for his money when it came to energizing the crowd.

The 2002-2003 SVC Men's Basketball Team will go down in infamy as the Southern Vermont College 'Dream Team' with a roster that was unmatched. Players from the Coach Marks era included Nick 'Frenchy' Bourgade, Charles Beekman, Sean Ezell, Cortney Denison, Lydale Waller, Joe Welch, Marius 'Big Lit' Zalieckas, Drew Santandera, Tyrese Thomas, Marcus Fefee, Julio Ramirez, and Tyler Tuomisto.
